Re:

It's not just the English you are ditching and to be honest most of us are British no English.

If any of Britain was to go alone it should be the Great part of it.

Just ignore the none central location of the political stuff and get on with your life and stop worrying, feck all will change anyway. We have. Border round Yorkshire and them down south have little idea or bother with up us here. We just let them get on with it and leave us alone ;-)

Our overlords the EU make the rules anyway.

Re:

I think the scots should have independence ,a no vote now will not be the end of this it will grumble along for years.
I am tired of the English haters let them get on with it.
The big win in all of this is the end of Labour as a political power which is a beautiful gift the Scots can give us.

Re: Scottish Indepence YES or NO?

You are more than welcome to the wind turbines. Mind that we made an agreement to join the union, we were never forced into it. There is no reason to expect civil unrest of any kind going forward, we are a much less divided nation culturally and politically than the yes/no nature of this referendum may suggest.

Sectarianism is on the wane in Scotland, and I can vouch, having mixed heritage kids and such, that there is next to no anti English sentiment evident here. Many campaigners for independence are in fact from the south parts of this island. Scotland is a welcoming, inclusive nation, and we want to run things in that light. The whole anti immigration agenda so prominent in the south does not sit well with us.

I do believe, in contrast to Salmond's suggestion this is the end of the matter for a generation, that a NO vote will only delay matters for a few years.

Re: Scottish Indepence YES or NO?

When I was in Scotland back in 2007 coming down the western side, I was confronted by some unbuttered scones. Upon asking the tea shop owner if we could have the scones buttered we were met with the rather terse reply ''ye can butter it yerselves!''.

Never would have happened in an English tea shop. No, the very thought of it could send the clotted cream to cheese...

You are fortunate not to have asked for 'Toasted'

Are you referring to the original act of union :? 1707 type thing :? If so there was force implied and im under the impression we were forced into it to pay for the failed venture of the Darien scheme which failed because of the English.

Re: Scottish Indepence YES or NO?

No anti English my arse. I've worked with plenty scots and like the welsh can be very anti... Mind you try working with the Geordie mathia,,,, I hope Scotland gets independent let them run their own house , don't see why Westminster should bend over backwards and offer them deals that no other parts of the uk are having
See on TV that greater Manchester which has a larger population than Scotland wants greater control of its taxation and spending. Maybe decentralising government is way forwards. So I say fingers crossed go Scotland go . We're still buy your goods and your probably still buy ours maybe your just be paying more for them.

I didn't say there was NO anti English sentiment, just very little. Given the number of English living here in the Highlands is quite high you would expect a lot more if you listened to the nay sayers.

Now, given your grasp of demographics why don't you do some research before throwing in?

Beggars belief that anyone could be ignorant on population numbers having previously quoted them..

Your funny and as said seem to have all the answers,, most scotch I work with or welsh are great but do get odd anti English even if their working south of the boarder, it's great how you take little snippets out of my words, I'm pretty sure your a yes vote and if you read my words I think and come to support that it's best you go.lots scaremongering about how it's all going to be bad for Scotland ,who knows til it happens and I'm sure England will carry on ok without telling Scotland how to spend its money, just take 25% of the national debt with you and set up your own shop. U never came back with any answers to questions I've posted etc etc . Probably because no one knows hey ,,, if I'm asking how if every person in Scotland worked which u and I know they don't , much like England what sort of tax will they need to cover all the government cost , has anyone on either side yes or no said how this is to met. IDE love to work on a job with you I'm sure IDE have you spitting your dummy out within a hour , oo I do miss a square sausage and breakfast roll be north of the boarder again me self no doubt....well here's another question. If Scotland isn't in the union or the eu , I've read online it may take Scotland three years to gain exceptance , tho I can't understand why,,, can I work north of the boarder still or need a visa like working in USA.

Re:

I have no real opinion, but I don't believe independence will give Scotland the financial growth that the politicians are blathering on about, as I think there is a huge amount of Govt. spending that has not been considered or at least spoken about.

As for anti English sentiment, I have been visiting my family home in the West Highlands for over 50 years, and have never met any. In fact, I was struck very deeply that when I spent a week up there in June, I barely heard a Scots accent all week, let alone a local accent.

Wind turbines? I like them, I think they look cool, especially the big guys that can be seen from the M74 south of Glasgow; very imposing.
