Shumacher just bullied his team mates into submission and broke the rules to get his results punted Hill off the track to win
Whilst he may have asserted certain demands within the teams he raced for, and also, crossed the line several times (Hill, Villeneuve, Monaco 2006), it would be asinine to suggest that was all that got him his results.
Sure, he'll have got the odd occasional victory through team orders - but look at his stats for wins and poles.
He probably had all sorts of privilege allowed to him at his peak - but got that
because of his talent and ability. I was never particularly a fan before he retired, but the one thing I never doubted was his driving or racing ability.

Thank god his time is over the boredom nearly killed the sport
Was that a significant aspect to his talent, though? The team he managed to get to work together - personally, I think that's a significant aspect as to why he dominated so long - he had the talent and ability, and other factors (success, determination) enabled him to attract the right people with a good budget. I think that's why he dominated for so long - for several, related reasons.
