Had to have my dog of 14 years put to sleep today. I cried like a child :cry:
RIP Penny 1996-2010.

WOW. Having chatted to the vet when we had Penny put to sleep, regarding how long mongrels live compared to pedigree dogs i've learnt something about my dog that unfortunately I didn't know whilst she was alive.
I spent 12 years under the impression that the 2 year old bitch we rescued from the RSPCA was a Staff x lab type mongrel. Thanks to info from the vet it turns out she was a rather rare Austian shorthaired pinscher :shock: . I was shocked, but in a nice way

New dog defo helps, I know that from previous experience. I'll give it a couple of months though, then we'll probably rescue another nutter from the RSPCA

Had a similar experience 7 years ago with my 18 year old dog, Jess.
