Sacrilege?

I had to change my steerer twice i the same day last week :shock:
Firstly changed the original one for a longer one, but the crown race area on the new one didn't extend above the crown so the crown race couldn't be fitted :roll: Popped that one back out and put an even longer one in with the correct height crown race section. Did it all using the bottle jack type bearing press at my mates garage, took about 5 mins :wink:
If the steerer leaves the crown at an angle its nothing to do with the steerer, the angle is machined into the crown. Just means you may have support the crown at an angle to get the line of the steerer square in the press to fit it.
