Good day!

Since my "new" AMP fork does look like this

I am in search for the lower part of that fork (model doesn't matter I hope). :)

Please PM me, I am no frequent visitor.

Best regards
Tom

edit: argh, could please somebody send this thread to "MTB Wanted"... :roll:

Would it not be easier to get the stripped & then powder coated black :?:

I don't think you'll find they come up for sale very often (lowers only)

I will do this - but the rust inside the fork is so old, I really don't know if rust converter will be sufficient.

But thanks mate :)

AMP still supply a large number of spares, it may be worth dropping them an email.

However I'd be tempted to strip and clean that fork. The rust looks relatively superficial from that photo. Once cleaned you will have a better idea.

I have a set of these forks and had them powdercoated, that rust on yours doesn't look too bad. If you don't fancy that, I actually have a new old stock set of these forks that I bought for spares, but haven't used since getting them. They have a few scratches etc from storage but are in good condition overall and not having ever been fitted or used, will last for years to come. I may be interested in selling the fork, perhaps even just the lowers.

Unfortunately, the model does matter, there were little tweaks between models (and F2, F3, and F4 were all QUITE different...)

If you don't want that canti hanger I'd be interested :lol: :lol:

@Jerky: Thanks for that hint!
@ishaw: You have pm
@Teenage: Thanks for that hint, too! But sorry, I need the canti hanger, since an old amp needs old brakes ;)

This is the model, I guess F1. Could somebody confirm this?

Tricky. I'm not 100% sure it's an F1. the machined parts appear to be identical to an F2; Forks made for the mongoose frames were, at one point, F2, but with 'downgraded' steel legs, so they could be the mongoose forks.

They may well be F1... I have a factory manual somewhere, I'll try to dig it out and see if the parts match?

definitely first generation with on piece steel legs, as the F2 onward used bonded aluminum lowers.

i'd strip and repaint/powdercoat. those legs don't look too bad.

Okay, in February I'll find some time for stripping. If it looks too bad then, I'll get back on this thread and your proposals!

Many thanks guys! :)
