BoTM Rubon87’s 1992 Cinelli Tuttifrutti was the August 2025 Bike of The Month

Bike of The Month
I forgot to add this one to the rosta! The "Blue Collar Special" drew in 20 entries, but it was the Cinelli, with it's 500LX groupset - top of the Exage range, that came out on top. Congrat's @rubon87

Woah - Columbus tubing? I made a terrible mistake in the late '80s going for a Cannondale rather than a gorgeous steel Cinelli like this. Steel was not the metal of the day then, almost all reviews were pushing stiffness as being essential for MTBs. I quickly learned, being beaten up by the Cannondale and then bashed senseless by a Klein. So I went back to steel and ti - Marins. Lovely things. But I still remember exactly the day in Action Bikes in Brighton when I looked at the Cinelli (XT equipped) and the Cannondale (XC) and then back to the Cinelli and then the Cannondale. AND MADE THE WRONG DECISION.

...follow on...Cinelli - along with Joe Murray - already (and very early) were beginning to really understand the need for longer top tubes....something which was not much of A Thing at the time but I was sure onto - saddle whacked to the front to steepen the effective seat angle, get max TT length frames - and which of course became A Thing in the Long Low and Slack era....
