Did they ever make a good bike though???

Emmelle was a brand before it made Halford aerials and I do believe they used to make pretty top end road steads.

Pacific and Orbit both made very respectable bikes but never attained the buzz of other brands.

Edit: gone a bit off course with this, they were never classed as rubbish, just didn’t get the recognition they deserved.

Weren’t Emmelle the bike brand of the distributor Moore and Large?

I believe that Emmelle is supposed to sound like ML (Moore Large)

From a Scandinavian point of view, both Centurion and Kildemoes comes to mind. Not sure I'd describe their stuff as good or great but they used to provide some decent steel frames and kitted stuff with ok mid end componentry, also dabbled in various bike cultures, from road to atb to utility. They haven't been great since the late 80s mid 90s though.

Who made the Huffy frames that were actually raced (Road)...

I had a Huffy MTB when I was in high school. It was bought from Toys R Us.

It weighed an absolute ton and I could never get the brakes set up properly.
