RS1...............now anodised!

I would have concerns about 'trimming off the excess weight' too. I ran RS3's on my singlespeed and the arm cracked from the spider through to the taper at the front. Singlespeeding puts so much strain on the drive train that going lightweight is not a good idea. I currently run big beefy downhill cranks with a steel Surly chainring.
 
Trust me, some of the components I am using are so fragile that the crank is the least of my worries!! I am seeing how light I can make it, a sort of competition with a friend. It will not see any heavy use, that's what my other bikes are for, this one is just for pootling around town. Sorry if this offends anyone!
