Rock Mountain Glacier

Hi anyone confirm on the RM glacier model
a blizzard for the EU market i think was mentioned
thanks happy trails
Yes. They were Blizzards meant for the EU.

My understanding was there was a batch things were not perfect frame wise and got sent back to Rocky, who fixed them and then rebranded said Blizzards as Glaciers.

Nice bikes. Only ever seen a couple of the years here in western Canada.

Thank you for saying that. I'd heard it somewhere, but didn't speak up, as I don't have any evodence or confirmation. I have also read someone who denied it, so now the score is 2-1 for the side saying they are essentially rebadged Blizzards. I'd love to see 2 frames together for comparison.

here's some more details on this bike
wolber AT-18's on dx hubs
mountain LX front derailleur DX on the rear
frame has ritchey dropouts
chain stays seem fine
minor paint wear no dings or dents 👍🏻
has a west point cycle decal which over the years i see on the majority of old rocky's out here
stem is original 👍
fork is in great shape
ritchey seat post , original Rocky anatomic saddle ! a bit worn but very restorative
only drawback - have to get rid of the shifters brakes (thought they work well on this bike ) and make it 100 % original
last owner added some sweet panaracer gravel king tan wall tires 2.1" perfect for all the local trails
so just a blizz dressed up as a classy Eu girl but i like it

From my understanding - Glaciers were early 91 frames (see cable routing) that came with non dimpled drive side chain stays. these were fixed in house, repainted all white and sold mid season 1992 as a "special edition". There was a post on one of the Facebook groups by someone tasked with fixing these in BC. The rumour that they're for the EU market doesn't make any sense at all, I'm not saying it's wrong, but the vast majority of Glaciers are found in Canada or Northern US, it just doesn't make sense that all these were sold over seas and have all some how found their ways back to Canada. My Glacier came to me stock minus the correct fork Manitou 2( Syncros Fork was stock) - it's got a build date of Jan 91, came built to the 91 catalogue spec. M730 XT, Flat top Syncros stem, Syncros bar, Ritchey post, black Wolber AT18

That's why it is nice to see that Geoff's Glacier has a BC shop sticker, validates your thinking

has a real mix of components. certainly not all original. didn't mountain lx only come in 1989?
cable stop on the side of the head tube is 1991 only i think. that fork doesn't look like anything
i have ever seen original to a rocky. still a good find.
