Ringle stems

When ringle stems are for sale if they don't have the quill does that mean they are clamp on or can the quill be taken out and used on another stem if so how do you tell the difference thanks

It's been a while since I had a tingle quill stem but I don't think they had a removable 'quill' so if it's not got one, and it has the retaining bolt and clamp, it's an ahead stem.

As above, On the Zooka it's either a quill or an ahead. You also have the Ringle Trail stem where you could interchange quill sizes but they still would only be quill.

However, all that said those quill to ahead adapters are pretty common for people trying to put newer ahead stems onto old bikes. Nothing stopping you using one just they are heavy and can look a bit crap imo.

Have a look at Elite504's thread for more info on the trail stem - https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/ringlé-development-parts-trail-stem-picture-heavy.52988/

Random example of a quill to ahead adapter, lots of different ones available. - https://www.condorcycles.com/produc...s1D5EuI0KaN2-8vk21abSk&variant=12521459679315
