retrobikes day in the peaks ride 4th sep 2016

Re:

Liking the look of route 2 as well. Looks awesome

I think climbing up Cavedale would break my heart - one of the best descents in the peak district - ridden(?) the wrong way! Adds a little bit of distance, but how about climbing up the road SE of Castleton and then up Pindale and Dirtlow Rake, or even the broken road up Mam Tor? (could even go up Pindale, down Cavedale then broken road and on to no car café. I can see why it might not be a good idea to go down Cavedale though...)

Then having said that I've never tried riding up Cavedale, so it might make a good climb too...

Re:

Hear what you're saying, but I'm not sure it's a good descent to include in a National RetroRide

Have to admit I'm intrigued to try it as a climb too - what a pair of sickos

trying to mix it up a bit, think weve nearly exhausted most the loops this side of hope, next year i may plan it from ladybower or Llangsett ;)

I know, I know... but all the same.

What's harm? most people would be off and walking before the gate...

Is there any way to get near to start point by train? I'm seriously debating this even if it will kill me for a fortnight after! Don't think my better half would like getting up this early on a Sunday!
After going through the peaks to Stockport a week or so ago i got to thinking how great it would be to ride it, bearing in mind weather was crap and very wet when I went to Stockport the scenery was still amazing with mist rising between peaks of hills rain on one side and the other side clearing slowly was very nice scenery.
Hopefully I can make it but will confirm later in week.

I'll add my name in this thread as I've signed up already on the Facebook page.

What bikes will most people be riding? Mine are all fully rigid but some have more gears and better brakes than others!

I'll try to bring a retro one since my Singular was ineligible for bike of the ride on my last ride.

facebook page?

ill be rigid, cantis and clipped in

train station at bamford and edale, and maybe hope, look on the map and check timetables :)

FluffyChicken added it as an event in the Yorkshire Wolds Retroriders Facebook group.

Good to know I won't be the only person on a rigid beast. I'm leaning toward bringing my most recent purchase, but it needs a test ride first.
