Retro skateboards

I still have a few setups from 1970's era Santa Cruz, GS Fiberflex, Krypto, Z-Flex etc. One day my boys were out tearing up the small hill in front of our house with my old decks as they often did. The 13 yo neighbor kid was on my door a few minutes later. He proceeded to lecture me on the value of my boards and how my old late 70's Kryptonics Foam core had become a bit of a holy grail for skateboard collectors thus I shouldn't let my little boys ride it or any of my old setups anymore. He then proceeded to show me some skateboard website not unlike RBUK where they talked up the good old days with these old sticks. Put them all away soon after that. One of these days I will get around to trading them off for some proper mtb stuff.

After we move I'm going to spend some time finding out if my board is worth anything and, if it is, sell it...

The kids haven't really looked after it and I'll never use it...

Here is my 1965 "Makaha" skateboard, a single slab of oak with clay wheels.

The trucks were held on by three half-inch wood screws, and the first thing you did when you got one of these boards was to move the rear trucks forward to make a kick turn possible.

You had to skate on a very smooth surface, because even a tiny pebble could stop the clay wheels dead.

This worn out '70s G&S deck has long been retired, and the trucks moved to another stick. I broke my leg riding it in Victoria Skatepark in 1979.
