Retro Phone

great stuff! i had a 9210 communicator aka the brick, got it on the 2nd of January 2001 xmas present, got stolen from my home one new years eve on the 1st january 2002 :/

I always wanted one of those funky slidey Nokias they used in The Matrix. 'course strictly speaking they're still too modern to be retro...

The pic a few weeks back with the flip open Motorola from the late 80s / early 90s took me back.

I'm dismayed with the thread so far. I was expecting something like this:

I've seen examples go for silly money (£80+) at the antiques market in Stratford upon Avon.

We actually had one in that colour, when I was a kid.

I also remember the buttons like that, near the handset. When I was a kid, my Nan had a party line shared with a neighbour (/ friend) across the back street. You had to press the button before you could place a call, and if the other person / household was using the line, you had to wait until you could get a dial-tone.

Mum & Dad still have an all-red one in the loft, dunno if it still works though. But it does remind me a lot of the Batphone. 8)

Slightly off topic, but amusing.
A friend of mine was waiting at a bus stop in broad daylight, but in a slightly dodgy part of North London. A large bloke, staggered across the road clutching his stomach and pleaded with him to ring an ambulance as he thought he had a burst appendix.

My mate pulled out his ancient knackered looking Nokia 6310 and started to dial for the ambulance. At which point the large bloke made a miracle recovery and said "oh for f@cks sake" and walked off.

ahahah, funny!;D
the last time I was knicked they got away with an old weared out nokia and a russian watch (wich was broke all the time).
