Roku TV streaming thing (UK)

Anyone on here got a Roku streaming box? I'm trying to find out if the Freeview play app on there needs an aerial connected to the TV, or if it works over the internet like the phone app.

The customer service team are based in the USA, so they had no idea what I was talking about!

I've had a Roku for a couple of years, we watch Iplayer/Netflix/ITVX etc etc, all works over Wifi.
Cheers @zerogravitas - do you use the Freeview app for that?

Eg. On my phone I can use the Freeview play app like a TV guide, then selecting something will take me to iPlayer etc

Ah I see, no we use each service's own app and choose whatever programme from within the app. Sorry if that means I cna't answer your question! Does the Roku even have an aerial port? The little box is so small I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

No worries, from what I could see on the Roku site it'd use the Arial connection from the TV 🤷‍♂️

Using the TV connected aerial wouldn't make sense. the data can't be transferred via HDMI from what I've read.

I've just been and tried my daughters Roku TV. there is a live TV option then a freeview play option. the freeview play options just takes you to the apps. the live TV options needs an aerial connection.

so I think the play app will just cycle you to the relevant channel app.

Cheers for checking that out @novocaine , I think that's exactly what I'm after 👍
