Retro Bianchi

Re:

The inline damping adjuster narrows it down to xc500, 600 and 700. The xc500, as has been noted, had the stanchion clamp bolts on the front, and a moulded in canti hanger. So it's either xc600 or xc700.

I was going to say xc600, as I didn't think the xc700s came in "champagne", but google image search would indicate otherwise.

I'm not sure what the actual difference (if any) is between the xc600 and the xc700. The guts appear to be the same.

Bloody good forks, though. Love my 700s.

Sorry for getting here late. It used to be the top of the line of Bianchi's economy range, while the high end series had the NTH designation. The material is a not well specified steel meant to be used with lugs. The Marzocchi looks like an xc500.

Re:

I like that! I hope you start a rebuild thread.

I built up a Bianchi road bike earlier in the year, in the famous pearl celeste colour.

Here,

Mrs Muz likes the colour so much, see says it can stay in the living room!
Would now love to find an mtb one!
Rarely see them for sale though, and believe me, I've been looking !

Could you post up some pics of the seat tube decals? That would help a lot.
Is there any BB shell pantographing?

Correct, XC600 or XC700. May be the decals are shown as a shadow on the tubes? These had 6-time-damper-adjustment, XC500 had 4-time.
Both XC600/XC700 had been produced in 'golden' type.
