so based on that then, I'm doing quite well, for a 115kg fat, beer swigging lardy ass ex-smoker retro mtber then...

A question; a 115kg fat, beer swigging lardy ass ex-smoker is the weight thing due to being an ex smoker, meaning did you pile on when stopping the fags ?

And yeah, I am trying to quit at the mo, over three weeks now and I am still struggling on champix too. Current weight 75kg, BMI of 22 and starting to dabble with a HRM attached to my bike and so far greatest reading on that thing is 175 bpm but resting heart rate of 48bpm. I do suffer dizzy spells but have not feinted since modifying my diet towards eating more proteins, but without a particular goal, am just blundering along believing am getting healthier.

I put weight on when I stopped smoking, yeah, but that's cos I started eating more, drinking a lot more and replaced an active and physical job, with a sedintary one. I put on about 4 stone or so in just over 3.5yrs....

Quitting smoking was a fiddle for me, I stopped buying them, went completely cold turkey, changed all my habits associated with smoking. And I've not looked back since...

i normally register 43/44bpm when training well, started to feel like I was coming down with something a couple weeks ago and sure enough my RHR went up to 60bpm.

still getting over a bad chest cold and training has been cut in half at best, and still floating around 55bpm

I find it an interesting if not fool proof gauge

Which App are you using ?

It's called "instant heart rate" I've checked it against the old-fashioned method of timing my heartbeat against a stopwatch, and it's equally accurate..

I wouldn't worry about absolutes with your RHR.
So we're ignoring bradycardia now? It's a bold statement, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks Doc.
Oh FFS if you're gonna be a whiny little biatch and quibble with everything I write, at least don't rip sentences out of context, you even had to falsely add you own full stop, you tedious, whining malcontent. If you'd not truncated the sentence and invented your own sentence structure and punctuation in "quoting" me, you'd not sound like some mithering teenager who just wants to argue.

If you'd actually had the integrity to just simply include the sentence, you'd not need to get your panties in a bunch about anything. What I actually wrote was:-

I wouldn't worry about absolutes with your RHR so long as it's not inordinantly low or high.
And I'm not making any bold statements, or making a medical diagnosis. The OP doesn't mention any other symptoms, and all I said was "I wouldn't worry...", surely it goes without saying that anybody with true medical concerns or symptoms should seek professional medical evaluation.

I think tour de France riders resting heart rate is around 30 as low as 27

Depends how much EPO they've had :)
Several of em died in their sleep!
There are tales of riders being woken up in the middle of the night to do exercises, in order to get their hearts to pump the sludgy, EPO thickened blood round their bodies.

Anyway - I'm sub-50 RHR - and when in for a routine operation t'other week, caused the nurse a little stress as the alarm on the heart monitor kept going off as I was sub-50!

i use to ride for a team, and one off the lads there had spent a few years in france racing,he said one night he got up to go to the toilet ,looked out the window and there was a very well known french pro sat on a turbo trainer at 3 in the morning
