A couple of years ago a man stole two sovereigns from my display cabinet,I chased down the road, pushed him to the ground and recovered my property.....the police came out and I got a bollocking,he took me to court and I had to pay for his new leather jacket......the old one got ripped when he hit the deck........
Jesus wept, it makes you wonder what kind of country we are living in. If that had happened in Texas, you'd have probably been within your rights to shoot the c***.

Instead, I turn on the TV to hear that thieving shitbags are now described as "vulnerable members of society"... :x

I would probably have been up for a bravery award under this government......it happened under labour.......

Yep. 13 years of punishing law abiding, productive citizens with tax and regulation so that we can bend over backwards to protect the human rights of degenerate scumbuckets.

No wonder this country's in a bloody mess.

shops need to learn how to differentiate between thieves and people who are not thieves

And they do that by?....

Perhaps the big bag they carry over their shoulder with 'SWAG' written on it is the give away?

Please... tell me how you differentiate between someone that is going to steal something and someone that isn't.

To back up this comment^^^

When I first opened my shop a woman came in and asked to look at some black opal earrings, they were 445 pounds, she asked if she could go outside to look at them......I was worried she was going to run off....almost convinced as she looked a stereotypical thief......scruffy unkempt and a bit ragged....I thought what the hell .....She went outside and I was ready to give chase.......she didnt run off and when she came back 30 minutes later she bought them for 445 without haggling

the money was all fake but that is another story

^ kidding

You can not differentiate between thieves and non thieves

I would have taken his name and written to head office
On what grounds?

Being treated as a thief. I don't even stop if the alarms go off on the door. There is no way I would stand being thought of as a thief.

It depends what side of the fence you are on,as a shopkeeper you get fed up with people stealing stuff,so anyone new has to be watched a bit, especially when they act a bit dodgy.....

Maybe the guy could have been a bit more tactful.....but we dont know if silverclaws fitted a description of someone he was asked to look out for etc......

a genuine mistake maybe....

I can handle mistakes, but what I cannot handle, is downright rude and offensive behaviour, I mean, when I am out and about, those whom I come into contact with, I am perfectly polite and courteous and I never raise my voice, in return, I expect the same. Furthermore, if anyone accuses me of anything or insinuates I am something or other when I know I am not, then I believe I have the right to defend myself and in that, question an accuser. I certainly do not expect to be told my attitude and tone is offensive, just because I am questioning that accuser regarding his earlier comments made about me to my face.

I am not a thief, I have never stolen property, and do not intend to start, regardless of how finances vary, I would sooner raid bins,( and I have) than steal from another.

The cash I had, if it concerns MM so much, is the long awaited criminal injuries compensation for attempted murder, with it I am sorting out my life.

Probably better to invest that money in a small business than to buy a kitchen....

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day teach him how to fish and he will eat forever" and all that.....

Anyway good luck silverclaws :D
