Report or not Dilemma ?

Thats right ross,I know big corporations are targeted by thieves, and I dont shop in big chain stores if I can help it but the same people who steel from them would steel from you without thinking about it....

A couple of years ago a man stole two sovereigns from my display cabinet,I chased down the road, pushed him to the ground and recovered my property.....the police came out and I got a bollocking,he took me to court and I had to pay for his new leather jacket......the old one got ripped when he hit the deck........

apparently he was a well known thief and was arrested two weeks previously for stealing drink from tescos......whom I cant bloody stand.....theft=theft......period

Doent matter what shop it is ...they are scum

^^^

I have done this in the past......I put a bottle of scotch under my coat and then walked to the checkout real slow before paying for it

I would have taken his name and written to head office and I would also write that I attempted to tell him about the lightbulb thief, as it could be seen that you failed to report a crime!

The fact you saw someone stealing from the shop kinda backs up the need from the staff to watch people, the fact they chose the wrong people makes little difference.

Personaly I would have said oi, put it back.. I understand some wouldn't confront but should tell staff

No point moaning about the problem then ignoring it and being part of the problem

Jesus wept, it makes you wonder what kind of country we are living in. If that had happened in Texas, you'd have probably been within your rights to shoot the c***.

Instead, I turn on the TV to hear that thieving shitbags are now described as "vulnerable members of society"... :x

My dad spent £20,000 on kitchens at B&Q last year. They kept lying to him about delivery dates, and were generally incredibly rude, making out he was lying about when they said they'd deliver them.

He stopped his cheque. They were nice as pie, but only after they didn't have the money.

Thieves should always be reported.

It probably wasn't the staff member's fault, he/she had probably been sent to follow you round by their manager.

My course of action would be to find the address of a higher manager (head office, regional manager etc) and write a very detailed letter, naming the member of staff and the duty manager at the time. The only way to get anything done in retail is to make noise within their hierarchy and play their own game.
