I'm sure this has been asked before. Can you recommend a good mud tyre. They have just installed a few 'north shore' type obsticles in the country park on my local loop. Only problem is the area they have installed them in is what can only be described as a peat bog :? I'm not 100% sure its rideable regardless of tyres, but some mud tyres ideally offering huge traction would give me a fighting chance.
I'm hoping they are going to put some stone in as its axle deep in places now so god knows what its going to be like in the middle of winter.

That's funny, I'm using Speed King 2.3s at the moment, but I'll certainly be taking them off when it gets muddy. I can believe that they shed mud well, but only because they've hardly got any nobbles!

I generally use Trailrakers, which have excellent forwards/backwards grip although their lateral grip isn't so good. I also have a pair of IRC Mud Mads that have good grip when it's really muddy and clear quite well, but I just find the nobbles are so big they make road riding a bit vague, so I'm going to sell them. Older tyres like Survival Pros are quite good in mud as well.

Conti Speed Kings - excellent all-rounder and clears mud very well.

I think on one has these, buy one get two free deal.

If you want to go Retro, the original mid-90s Specialized Storm Control was hard to beat. I only ever had one, and the sidewall died long before the tread

Good luck finding another one, but if you find two can I have one please :?:

I asked my lbs advice for tyres mainly cos i was struggling with roots and rocks and got Conti Mountain kings (red chilli???) used them all last winter on Dartmoor and thought they were great especially in boggy conditions.

i use tioga white tigers and they'rrr great (no pun intended  ) not sure what sizes they come in but i have them in 26x2.5's :D

Bonty Mud X or Panaracer Trailraker have always been my faves.

Wasn't the Trailraker designed specifically for UK conditions?
