Recommend a 29er frame/complete bike!

ptr138

Dirt Disciple
Needs:

29er
Steel
Full on gears, 1x8/9 or SS (=slot dropouts then)
Rigid or hardtail (and ability to switch)
Will be used on gravel/trails/semi-technical stuff
Fenders could be nice
No need for top-of-the-line, just quality

Any alternatives besides the obvious?

About 650 gbp is wallet-safe.

Very tricky to find shops that stock 29ers here in Sweden. Will prob order online. (UK/GE)

Singular Swift will run geared or single, comes with Phil Wood EBB, Reynolds 520 forks for the princely sum of £420 UK

Heres mine, still wearing 26" wheels but not for long as my Halo Freedom Disc on Hope Pro IIs have just arrived, woohoo

I can wholeheartedly recommend a Niner M.C.R 9 /SIR 9. All tubes Reynolds 853, great geometry, not to mention really good looking  :)

650 the whole bike or just the frame? I'd go with the swift - in fact i did! Ferrit has already beaten me to the pics. Slight hi-jack, are you running a front mech on that swift? Thinking of putting gears on mine for mayhem but don't fancy the 40 quid chain device to run it 1x9.

Thanks for the replies!

Singular looks really nice. And it fits the budget.

650 + some parts off a Gary Fisher Monona (hybrid) and I should have a complete bike.

Bought a 2008 Haro Mary XC at the start of the year. Popped some race tyres on it and just did 10 UTB on it. Great bike for the money, only (minor) weakness would be the BB5 cable brakes.

Triton cycles are doing the XC for £650 and the gorgeous SS for £415.

SPAM ALERT!

why not buy this frame from me?

Then again postage to Sweden, ouch!

Edit Doh should learn to digest what I read you want STEEL!

I have a Surly Karate Monkey - I can safely say it's the best bike I have - it's the one I choose to jump on among the fleet every time. Currently set up as rigid singlespeed. I have changed the handlebars since this image. I'm quite tall hence the big frame with the big wheels :D
