Serious doesn't have to mean abusive or offensive. If someone wishes to be abusive or offensive they will be. Banning stuff to stop them is just letting the idiots win. And they will only do it elsewhere.

I don't think I have been abusive or offensive to anyone, despite the mindless provocation. They are easy enough to ignore.
