RALEIGH Titanium - Please help us to identify

Raises a number of questions in my mind:

1. If robotic Plasma Arc Welding is a good way of welding ti frames, how come it didn't catch on?

2. Did RSP just happen to have robotic RAW kit lying about the factory plus skilled operatives to use it, or did they outsource the work?

3. If they outsourced the work, did the company they outsourced it to have experience in building bike frames?

4. Did they have a good reliability record?

In answer to the above.

1. Cost of equipment. PAW is not cheap.

2. No, it was not outsourced. We used the robot on some main triangle joints and Mickey Rooney did the rest (Seriously his name IS Mickey Rooney !!)

3. Mickey was a fantastic welder

4. Yes, absolutley, that why they are still cropping up on here although manufacture ceased in about 2002.

As regards the statement about Raeigh USA shipping tubes over, I'd take that with a pinch of salt. For the most part our source of Titanium was IMI at Swansea. The dictates of marketing lead to all sorts of claims.
RSP DID build up unique models for ZEG, but this is not one of them.
