Seat tube slot question

Maybe a stupid question. I have an Orange P7 that has an odd 32mm seatpost clamp with the slot on the seat tube facing forward. However, all the seatpost clamps I have been able to find, including 32mm Orange branded ones have the logo orientated so that the slot on the clamp (where the clamp is tightened) is on the rear of the bike. Does this matter? Does the slot on the seat tube and the clamp have to line up or do I just need an extremely specific clamp? I can place the clamp backwards, but that looks a bit weird and it means the Orange logo is on the non-drive side and the QR lever is backwards.

Doesn't matter which way round you fit the clamp on the seat tube. I like to align mine with the slot where possible for some OCD reason I've never figured, but the stars don't always align and it is fine not to.

I'll always line up the slot on the clamp with the slot on the frame, regardless of where the slot on the frame is. Surely it ensures the force of the clamp is distributed correctly on the frame?

I guess you can't run the qr on the other side?

I have used them both ways, but it makes more sense to have the clamp slot tighten along with the frame slot.

I don't know, people have said otherwise in various places. I agree with you but in this case it looks shite if I do so im on the fence.

I can, the logo/clamp is on the non drive side, which looks weird.

Slot to the front online with the design of the frame.
Otherwise the catalogue and every other P7 from the late 90s has it wrong.
Plus it would be weird not having it like that.

I just run the clamp whichever way it fits, if the levers on the right, it's on the right, if it's on the left, it's on the left. It's not like the logo is upside down.

More recently I tend to go for hope bolt clamps, find them more reliable than qr. Hope logos are front or back depending on slot.

I managed to get a 31.8 to fit on my orange?

Yes it should be 31.8mm for 94-09 Orange P7s

I have an orange seatpost clamp that's clearly stamped "32" and the clamp is on the right, making the clamps slot not lining up with the tubes slot...

Here's another frame, same year as mine, with the slot on the front.
