A Raleigh RSP 400 with full suspension
Bought the bike as was being sold as a pub bike - totally mismatched and thought it deserved some TLC
Been riding this for a while even though it isn’t finished
Really enjoying it

Need to change the headset for a red Chris King
Need some XLite spacers for the steerer
Needs a new front mech - looking for an M950
Gil has the decals ready to print

Everything else just feels and rides great!

A question - what options are there for replacing the rear shock ?
Did Magura make a rear shock in 1998-2000?

All you need to know about the shock is the length and travel. Air shocks are easy to set up for any bike and rider combination. If historical accuracy matters then it’s not so easy. My 1997 Marin Riftzone had a coil shock where you can’t change the spring rate without finding an appropriate spring.

Thanks for that - I’ll have a look to see what’s out there
Historical accuracy isn’t too important but I do like to keep the components (in general) within +\- 4 years or so - this bike is 1999 I believe.

Bet you could get a little RP23 to go on there and make it pedal better.
That sounds like an idea
What’s the earliest model they made?

Just measure eye to eye on the shock and get the right size, they made loads of sizes so I bet there's one to fit. The fame doesnt look to have any funny geometry requirements so I bet it'd go straight on.
