Raleigh Rapide Basket Case Build

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

Sprayed over headset cups usually give away the fact that its not what it thinks it is.

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

Any ideas on the frame number LGF ?

Re:

So is it worth another £50 on powder? Doubling my investment?

I already have the DL decals.

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

I am thinking its a re-sprayed Peugeot but dont quote me yet

Are those brakes hiding recessed allen key type mounts? If so, it puts the frame up a notch, very possibly 501 of some sort.

And what size is the seatpost?

26.8mm is usually 501, then you have 27.2mm for 531 or 531c. The seat clamp area doesn't look like anything too fancy though

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

Normal flat brake mounts. If it was moody it was a long time ago. Wonder if somebody took a hit on it? Now I'm wondering if it's worth the effort or wait for something else.

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

I'd hang on - frames in your 'size' seem to be cheaper

Re:

And 'French'

Ah well, 600 levers and cranks anyone?

Nice light frame though. Does rust weigh less?

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

1983 Raleigh Lightweight unit built? (on the basis of the frame number?)

Lugs aren't very Nottingham esque though...

Gold front hub... very Raleigh Record Sprint 1983

Re: Dave Lloyd? Mystery Basket Case Retromod Build id please

Thanks for that. It seems to be a nice frame. Strange to be pretending to be a Lloyd.

Is there anything else that might help identify it?
