Raleigh Randonneur

Retro Newbie
Hi, I've inherited an old Raleigh Randonneur 708 road bike. It looks a nice bike, just like the one in the picture attached.

However the previous owner has replaced the original handlebars with some nasty cheap straight ones.

Can anyone advise what bars I need in order to restore it to original spec? I've read they are Cinelli, I also need the bar end shifters.

Re:

There's nothing on the stem unfortunatly, although that could also have been replaced.

Where the stem fits into the frame, the fitting is branded Campagnolo.

Looks before 1995 so I'd guess the bars you need are 26.4mm or take a micrometer screw guage to the existing bars. Then for new somewhere like SJS or ebay or maybe Hilary Stone. , as for bar end shifters you need to work out what the drive train is... Number of gears and brand.

Re:

Thanks, is there a specific style/type I should ask for in the bike shop. Or look for online? I liked the ones that were originally on it. No idea what they were though. Looks like maybe Campag Cinelli. Something similar would be fine.

Chain set is mostly Shimano Deore

Btw pic of the bike isn't my actual one, it's a pic I found on this forum actually. Looks exactly the same as mine though.

I'd post pictures of the actual bike as from your wording it sounds like you are not too confident in what you are describing.
