Anyone know the actual width in mm of the 2.4 RR and the 2.4 Mountain King for comparison please?

Cheers

google is your friend:
Racing Ralph 2.4
59mm tread width
58mm casing width

Mountain King 2.4
62mm tread width
or
60.04mm tread width
54.14mm casing width
(as measured here http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=322392)

depends heavily on the rim width though!
and
these tires are not in the same league. racing ralph being more the xc race oriented tire while mountain king being an all mountain tire.

Thanks very much for that :)

I'm just looking for a large volume lightweight tyre that will fit my King Kahuna frame ;)

Hence, thinking Racing Ralph or Mnt. King in Supersonic form.

Cheers

think the mountain king will go better with the british weather. very good grip in dry conditions and still decent in the mud. the racing ralph is horrible in mud. considered the nobby nic?

I have the NN's in 2.25 and are fitted to the KK at the moment ;) ...

So, I suppose I was looking for more of a summer/hard-pack tyre. Although with our weather maybe an all-rounder might be better!?

Cheers

I use the Mountain King in a 2.2 size on the back and it is about the same size as the Panaracer XC pro in a 2.1 size that I have on the front. I have found that Continental Tires tend to be smaller than the numbers indicate, perhaps because the tread isn't very deep-so when I buy Cont'is I generally get one size larger (i.e. 2.2 instead of 2.1). I like them because they are light.

racing ralph = scars

exagerated generalisations will not help the OP.
as stated before - it totally depends on the trail, soil, type of riding, weather, skill level...
on a dry xc trail you'll be blazing fast with a racing ralph. on a wet all mountain typ of trail you'll be better of with something else.
