Spoke to the council and there may be a planning issue but our "amenity" would not be a concern to them, basically they could build it up to our post and bar fence and the council wiuldn't give two hoots

yes but they might be breakig the law by serving alcohol in a place which is not designed for it . contact he licencing office at the council .

They are lisenced to sell on and off the premises. Before the landlord sadly died he wanted to hold the occasional event in the field so I think they can serve it there.

as you've described it I would look into change of use regs. If the field can be shown to be historically agricultural land and is now being used for a commercial use then I would have thought a planning application would have to be submitted ?
