Does a beer garden extension onto an adjoining field that is within the pubs boundaries require planning permission?
I can email further info if needed.
Thanks

pm me some details fella and i'll give you some specific advice

it depends upon so much - what you actually mean by a beer garden, and the designation of the "field" in any planning records / permissions, historic uses of same, etc etc etc.

"development" require planning consent unless it comes under permitted development ( T & C act / GPDO , etc) off top of my head i don't think there are any PD provisions for pubs (but it's an age since i looked)

if 'field' has been used consistently for such (or similar) purposes ancilliary to the pub (in an exmaple where the pub itself never actually had consent it just was a pub (in 1948 or before) then it's a maybe..

And

it might not need planning but you need to check that the alcohol licence covers that area .

The "field" has been used for agriculture for 100's of years, until recently it had horses on it.

The last few decades the field had been rented out by the brewery for horses but a few years ago the brewery have leased the hole estate to the current owners, so it's a free house. They decided the current beer garden needed to be bigger so have pinched some space (about 50m2) from the field towards my garden. So now it's pretty close and my garden and rear of the house is overlooked by the beer garden.

Ah, I see now. You are talking from the understandable concern of a neighbour, not the proposer.

The field was separate in deed and of a different use.

I cannot imagine they can bypass the normal routine for attaining permission.

I would begin preparing your argument it interferes with your amenity.

Fingers crossed.

you need to contact the council , they should be able to tell you . start with Environement health if not licencing .

I wanted to avoid contacting the council because I do like the pub, the ladlady didn't seem to think it would affect me too much when I asked what was going on in the field the other day. I suppose I am a little annoyed that they didn't speak to me first considering I am their only close neighbour!
If they want it then I want them to enclose it with a proper fence at least but it's just a post and bar thing.

Sounds like you need to have a pow wow with the landlady, on a semi formal basis at least.

Our old house was on a mountain side, endless views.

Our neighbour decided they wanted a wind turbine.

I am all for renewables, so I suggested a position it would not cause any issues. They went ahead with it and it was clearly visible from our lounge, right on the ridge our sunset came over a good portion of the summer.

When I went to complain they said the installers had put it twenty metres out of place, as it would then gain many more days usable wind.

I put in for a large shed, to be placed in the corner of our land, that would see their bungalow bereft of all westerly sunsets for a good portion of the year.

Once we got down to it, re-siting the turbine was without problem.

Figures actually showed it had no detrimental effect on the production from it. These firms just err on the side of most wind as a rule, they don't really care about amenity.

I had similar thoughts, I was thinking I could do with a pond down the garden, maybe with a water feature that requires a pump... I could power that pump with a big old noisy smokey generator.
I'll speak to her again.

Spoke to the council and there may be a planning issue but our "amenity" would not be a concern to them, basically they could build it up to our post and bar fence and the council wiuldn't give two hoots
Nice
