Not been in this section for a while :xmas-big-grin:

In my experience petrol has usually been a few pence cheaper than diesel at the pumps, by around 5p locally.

Recently I've noticed some pumps selling both fuels at the same cost and a few, gasp, selling diesel a few pence cheaper that petrol. Even Tesco in Dundee last night had diesel 2p cheaper.

What's going on?

down here in Essex all they have done is pushed the price up of petrol to match diesel

Re:

same here in Leeds... 4 weeks ago petrol was 1.12 and diesel 1.18... Now both 1.18.

Given the wholesale diesel price mentioned in the link, that's a deal that Dick Turpin would be proud of!

10p a litre cheaper for diesel here. Last time I filled up (2 weeks ago?) It was 10p more.....

Could it be anything to do with recent changes in Germany and France? It's not going to be long before diesel is banned (or at least, heavily restricted) in most/many/some towns and cities.

Norwich up at Mousehold lane Esso was 111.9p per litre either flavour.

As for banning diesel as a fuel, I dont think so, as 2012/13 models were the ones that were found to be the worst for NOx (due to over zealous carbon reduction), it may be a charge on numberplates/ vehicles - older vehicles may pay less than later ones.

My old 300TD may be banned just on being too cool...

Nah, there is industry talk about banning diesel from city centres in France and Germany (?). I know a good number of fleet sales have shifted significantly to petrol/hybrid instead of diesel.
I'm not fully up to speed as I've not been in the office since November

Re:

I'm not generally in favour of banning things especially on spurious eco-nazi grounds but I have to say I wouldn't cry too much about fewer diesels on the road. Horrible things to share an atmosphere with...
