Old School Grand Master
A while back a virus got on to my PC. Between it and the fact Search & Destroy saw it and tried to deal with it on start up, I had to reinstall everything. So I installed widows into a new partition and started loading all my software back on. I noticed straight away that everything was now loading into the D drive. Since then I have also noticed the original C drive is also still around. My brand new Kaspersky program has found something in C drive but can't do anything as the folder is write protected. I can't even seem to format C drive.

What can I do???

If that doesn't work then get hold of Hirens BootCD it's a CD, though can be made to run off USB drive.

May need to visit your local torrent search engine to get it.

Plenty of things to destroy er I mean fix you drive up

Partition Magic Pro will hopefully sort you out (deleting and formatting the partition) and the you may need to edit some things to get it booting again.

The way I've done this before is to boot from the XP CD and then get to the part where it asks where you want to install windows. Highlight the problem drive and then delete the partition (you'll have to confirm this about 2 or 3 times before it actually does anything). This will delete everything on the drive so make sure you've saved anything you want to keep.

Windows setup should then return to the same page after a while but with the old drive showing as unpartitioned space. Just choose this to set up XP on and go from there.
