do you sell boxes of wine ?

i was round a mates many years ago sat waiting for him to get his shit together so we could go ride and he said " do you want some wine ? "

yeah why not

he then leans forward with a pint glass to a box perched on the edge of the coffee table i hadnt noticed and turned a tap at the bottom

i was certainly shocked and said " er no thanks "

(Nose in the air) Certainly not! I would suggest a visit to a supermarket for that sort of wine.

That reminds me....for some reason a Rioja called Siglo seems to have a good reputation in Cardiff. I think this is because a number of (crap but people think they are good) restaurants sell it.
The wine is poor compared to many other Rioja, so we don't sell it.
But we do get asked for it a lot, mainly by people who think they know a little about wine.
'Oh...you don't sell it? I thought a good wine shop like yours would have it! Do you know where I can buy some?
Oh yes...the Spar down the road! :P

The only good thing about boxed wine is the fact you can drink it, then when you're too far off your tits to walk home tear the box up, inflate the foil bladder and use it as a pillow. :P

only a boat person would know that

I joined a wine tasting society at college (as an attempt to get pissed for free :D :D :D ) and at the end of each year an ex-pupil who was a 'wine broker' in London would come down with some hideously expensive wines - I think the cheapest we had was £40 a bottle. Anyway he pours out the last bottle ( Sassacaia or something like that) and hands it round telling us how expensive it was, but in a few years it would be worth thousands etc etc, we sip it thinking 'f*cking hell this must taste good' and it wasn't bad, until he had a sip and practically exploded in disgust 'It's corked!!! It's corked!!!'
None of us had noticed......

Also when I was working in a bar once someone was drinking the footballers favourite stupid money champagne Cristal, I was offered a glass, drank it, and can exclusively reveal it tastes like champagne!

I know nowt about wine. Cant even drink it properly. Instead of sipping I just end up supping. Then heap big head ache.

Best wine I remember was from a supermarket in the south of france for about 15p with some french sticks and some cheese. Our lunch was a liquid lunch in a field and we got blotto and woke up around midnight. Saw a farmer next day topping up a chainsaw using a similar bottle, so maybe it was 4-star.

I too know sweet FA about wine but the Lancia engineers would always celebrate a WRC win (and they won a lot back then) with a bottle of Barolo from the Marchesi. I've never tasted anything as good before or since and treat myself to a bottle every now and then. Great stuff.

Back onto customers, i had to listen to a bloke on the phone giving me instructions on how he was going to get to my place...'theres only one road into Morpeth' (there are four not including the A1) he kept saying. He wouldn't listen as he droned on about left at the Golf course, right under the bridge etc etc..... He still hasn't got here. What a suprise. I'm going home now

OOOH! But it comes in some hessian sacking, or wrapped in some guitar string!
Big brand, so people have heard of it. Probably saw it in duty free or something, plus it stands out on the shelf.

Had a bottle of white Rioja a couple of years ago - not something I had heard of, or seen in the Rioja region. It was nasty. Is it always nasty?
