OK so I have a slight problem. Basically the one piece stem steerer, at the end that bolts on the forks crown there is a protruding bolt thread over which a hexagonal plate sits and is bolt tightened underneath the fork crown.
My problem is this thread has snapped!! Don’t know whether I can ride without fixing but ultimately guess it stops the forks coming off and keeps the head set bearings from vibrating about.
So know there’s a lot of technical bods on this forum so was hoping for ideas around:
1. how is this thread fixed, will it come out or is it fixed / welded inside the stem?
2. if it is drilled out, can another be re-threaded in but guess this links in to the above how it is fixed / whether stem is hollow at bottom?
3. does anyone know anyone / company who could drill, re-fix the problem? Ideally around Manchester area?
4. any other thoughts / ideas etc?
Any help / advice would be appreciated as not very technically minded when it comes to things like this!! All in all need to fix the problem - some how? Photos to show the problem below.
