Orange Prestige - Retro Hope Disc Conversion - For Sale

Re: Orange Prestige - Finished and riden

It was a nice sunny day today so I decided to go for a spin on my local trails:

Definitely need a shorter stem and wider bars but at a conundrum as I really want to go with British parts if possible.

Re: Orange Prestige - 13 April - A couple of shots on the trails

X-lite stem and bars
Or
Pace stem and bars

Re: Orange Prestige - 13 April - A couple of shots on the trails

Well I fitted some wider bars and a shorter stem this morning and they've transformed the bike, I've gone from liking it to loving it. Only problem is that they are black & modern and look totally out of place on the bike so I'm on the hunt for some nice silver X-lite bars and possibly a silver Pace stem.

Re: Orange Prestige - Finished bike on page 4

Started off buy fitting some spare risers out of my bits box to see if they made a difference before shelling out for more parts:

Whilst they transformed the ride I can't say they suited the bike, luckily one of my mates had a Thompson stem going spare and I found some X-Lite bars on eBay:

Not quite the right period but they're better than the Orange SuperCross bars. I'm undecided on the carbon fiber, I feel they'd work better if I had some Pace or Manitou suspension forks on the front but I really like my RC30s so I'm not sure what to do, may keep an eye out for some silver X-Lite bars and an RC45 stem but in the mean time I'll ride it and have fun.

Looks absolutely spot on there to me, shame you don't like the ride? They ride brilliantly and I could spend all day on mine! Risers and a short stem seem odd on a 94 frame but you're the rider.

Saddle seems a bit lower than the bars which always messes up the handling, I'd fit some bar ends (L bends) and raise the seatpost height and lower the stem (if poss?).

Still the nuts, though 8)

Re: Orange Prestige - Finished bike on page 4

Whilst the flat bars suit the look they really don't suit me. I've played with various bars, stems & bar ends and the current X-Lite Tompson set-up seems to suit me best. I might not win BOTM with it but I'm having fun riding it.

Re: Orange Prestige - Finished bike on page 4

This arrived in the post from Germany earlier today:

Hopefully it'll fair a bit better than the one that died on me during the last retro ride in the FoD, just need to come up with a comedy way of fitting it.

Other than the bars and stem which is a shame the rest of the bike looks absolutely wonderful and i'm also one for favoring the straight bars as i've toyed with risers but just can't get on with them , any way all that matters at the end of the day is that your happy with the bike ;) ..

Re:

How are you finding the bike now?
Just been reading your Clockwork build, and now this.... Reminds me that I must kick start my Prestige build again.

You still got the RC30's? My plan is to buy some RC35's and just swap the legs over when I want some suspension, easy enough as you can keep the crown and steerer in situ.
