Orange P7

In terms of outlets, thats about it. Theres always charity shops which aren't too much trouble to see bikes as they're usually displayed outside so can spot say if you're driving past. car boot sales such as the roundstone pyo one and various others can be goldmines. Also friday-ad or ebay search 'nearest first' option in bikes when you type in your postcode.

Hi James. Yeah it is TMS. They didn't have a great deal of interest in (for me) apart from the orange. A few fairly modernish Kona's, a FS monstrosity and a load of cheapo tut. I keep half thinking I should go for the orange but as I have only just started this retro mullarky I don't want to be put off by a bad purchase.
If you want a little inspiration, jonnyboy666's C16R is clearly the same year and he equally clearly has a good time on it.

I believe it's a 1995, but could be 96

Keep coming back to this one, only to then walk away.... How much do you reckon I should offer for the bike less the tatty kit on it?

Can you point me in the direction of any good retro outlets round here?

BIIIIG summer season bootsales around Brighton - I've bought a Cinelli road bike for £60, Dawes stuff with XT for silly money, a cannondale and allsorts.

Funnily enough, I don't normally go anywhere near Worthing but I was there on Weds to go to Quest Adventure, only to get home to find you'd just said where your P7 is and it's only half a mile away from where I was!

Anyway I thought you'd lost interest, so I was going to along and make the guy an offer, but I wouldn't do that to you if you're still keen. TBH, from your point of view, if you want one of the best rigid bikes you could ever ride, that's it right there. No disrespect to the Muirwoods, but that is towards the bottom of the Marin range, and it's a plain-gauge frame to the best of my knowledge, and the P7 is a double-butted frame and it's just in a different class. A P7 is a classic.

Not worth a huge amount because there's so many of them, but cleaned up and well presented on eBay that bike could fetch £200. But as far as you're concerned, you just want to ride it, and although the running gear may be 'tat', the advantage of places like TMS is that they have to offer you some form of guarantee that everything works, so it probably does work. They'd soon go out of business if the bikes they sold didn't work. The one thing I'd change would be the wheels, which are probably heavy, but apart from that if the gears shift and the brakes brake, what's the problem? It's the frame that counts, and my main concern would be to see whether the rust is a problem or just surface, and you can't tell that from photos.

And don't worry about not being able to fettle the thing, there's enough people on here, including me, who would help you out, that isn't an issue.
