A quick bump to the top and a little thread hijack...!
I too have just aquifer one of these in 95 flavour and it has some rust discolouration on the top surface in quite a few places....I'm not too bothered, but when you say elbow grease, what would you suggest using?
I tried a bit with some wd40 and a rough sponge but I didn't want to cause the nickel plate to get any worse......
Help would be appreciated!

Just try whatever you have to hand that is abrasive, starting with the least abrasive - I ended up using a wire brush drill bit and it worked a treat but I guess it depends how much corrosion there is.

did that not strip the nickel plate though??

Hi,

I am also the proud holder of an late 90's P7, had the bike since new. Would now like to tidy up the lacquer on the nickel frame, preferably just removing the lacquer.

Any advice please on removal without damaging the nickel????

Also in need of some 1" steerer threadless forks (have a threadless headset from having Mar.Bombers on at the mo) to also accommodate pannier bags as turning the bike slowly into a tourer.

am leaning towards SS conversion - just wondering about tensioners etc. Saw these on the freshtripe site and wondered if it is worth considering?

Chain keeper, i dont think it tensions , i just need bb, bars,brake levers and ring then paint and assemble my P7 ss.
