Orange O2 project

Hi all, I posted this in the pre 97 forum as my recollection of time periods is somewhat faded in my old age! Turns out this is a 98 bike. Having previously had clockworks in my youth, this came up on a local selling site for just over £100 and I couldn’t resist.

Rides really well, forks surprised me as I expected them to be really stiff and top out easily, which they don’t. Not period correct bits on it, it’s obviously been previously upgraded to newer parts in the past.
The forks are heavy though, the front of the bike is like an anchor.
Plans initially are amberwall tyres ( how expensive are these now?!?!?) , new brake levers as they are tatty, some bar ends and potentially a lighter pair of forks. What size is the head tube on these, 1 1/8 or 1 1/4?
Hope you like.

Cheers

Re:

Nice! Are those RST Mozo pro's? Had them on a previous bike, for an elastomer sprung air damped fork they were really very good performers indeed.

Re:

Cheers! No they are Team 481’s. They are elastomer, didn’t expect much from them but they are actually ok, nice and smooth.

Re:

So gradually working my way through the jobs list on the bike. Got some decals off eBay, I know they are not 100% correct but freshen the frame up loads, it was only the top tube and down tube ones that needed replacing, others are still like new.
Cleaned all the mechs and chain and give a good lube. Replaced the worn brake pads with some Clarke’s which have improved the stopping power.
The old tyres were cracked and really dragged on the road surfaces so picked up a bargain pair of Schwalbe cx comps, I’ve got to say that I am really impressed. Low rolling resistance and great on gravel / hard pack tracks.
Finally got round to fitting my RST delta tl’s. The orange colour really attracted me to tie in with the orange theme I am planning. First ride on them and they are a better, sturdier and more adjustable fork, well chuffed, thanks to johndeverill for these, as described and quick postage!

Next on the list.....got some Tioga Powerstuds on the way, Orange chainring bolts, stem bolts and m5 bolts all round due anytime, need to source some better condition brake levers, a flat bar and a saddle that doesn’t resemble a sofa!

Cheers!

Headtube on the O2 is 1/1/8 same as its sister the E4 which i have. Both are built with Easton ultralight aluminium

Orange chain ring bolts is inspired! Looks great already (agree about the saddle though).

I've got a RST Delta TL on my Mount Vision, have been very impressed with it indeed, great fork.
