Chainset is looking like it'll be Truvativ Hussefelt - as there's one sat on an FSR doing nowt.
So which flavour ISI BB do I go for? 73mm shell - and 113mm axle? 118mm?

Chainset isn't going to be a Hussefelt!
Having got the BB out of the Spesh FSR, not only is it kaputt - but also the wrong size.
New BB 73/118 on its way along with a different Truvativ chainset - it'l do until I find a decent M750 - any offers??

Also, is a Hope Mini a suitable brake for a bike of this age? Not dabbled in diskbrakes before - all a bit confuzzing!

Well - that was a productive day...
I've sourced a pair of M740 shifters from Rojo
An sweet X-Lite seat post ;
A Minty FD-M739 front mech;
and a Hope Mini for the rear end, all from eBay

Looks like I'm in for a fun day on Saturday putting it all together :)

Your thought please retro-boffs....

Should I leave the Manitou Splice on MrXC - or should I bung on the Manitou XVert-Ts that I have??

What do you think?

I wouldnt put the dual crowns on, its not that kind of bike. I would build it for xc and try to keep the weight down.

MrXC is progressing nicely.

It has a RD-M739 at the back - and a mint FD-M739 at the front - and the M740 shifters to look after all the up & down action.

X-Lite seatpost now has San Marco Blaze saddle sat on top.

Hope Mini at the back - still have to find a Mini for the front

Truvativ FireD have Bontrager RE-1 attached. I'm talking to CharlieBoy about his shiny M739 cranks and have a blue Pace 46T on it's way too.
New UN73 also incoming.

An old Mavic 521 on the back, summat non-disk at the front with Umma Gummas attached.

This afternoon I got it running at took it for a quick test in the woods at the back - someone before had posted "buttery smooth" - they were right.
Seriously impressed - I think I'm going to really enjoy this bike! :D

Need some light XC wheels - Hope hubs of course. XM317?? Thoughts please?
Anyone with a Hope Mini (front) they don't need anymore?

Looking great!
Notice that your frame has two mounting positions for the rear shock on the bracket on the front triangle. Guess thats to adjust the amount of rear travel.

I have an old BB lying about that came from my MR XC, i could dig it out and get the sizes off it if you want?

MrXC has some new bits that need fitting

Some nice blue Pace Sub-130 bars
A nice Hope Mini to bolt on the front
And some PaceRC36 ProClassII to replace to Manitou Splice.

Need a stem that standard size as opposed to the oversized one that's on currently.

The new lighter wheels should be here soon - Mavic 317 on Hope hubs

MrXC is pretty much the finished article now.
I need to do a little work on the cable routing and tidy that up - but apart from that I've ridden over 100 miles on it this week.

The Pace RC36 ProClass have been fitted - liking the feel of them.
Slightly longer Ritchey stem fitted too

Once I find a decent 73/122 BB I'll pop the Middleburn cranks on. No rush while the weather's manky - until then Truvativ rings will do.

Got the cheapo HK lights on there with the uprated LEDs. Fitted the Polar HRM.

Just got to keep on riding it now!!
