My E3 frame just arrived this morning , something i can't can't figure out is the cable guides on the top tube, front cable stop is a triple block rear is a double :?

Looked at a few Aluminium Oranges in the members rides section and they seem to have two triples :?

Some pics to show what i mean

Also notice weld just under seat collar :|

the weld on the seat coller was probably to mend a crack and from what i can see the double cable stop isnt original....

ps if it is original then then its defo missing a cable stop..

Yeah, thank's  , you just confirmed my fears that it has been messed with, don't know what to do now, frame and deal has other issues

the crack was probably caused by having a seatpost that was too small for the frame,so when it was clamped at some point the stress of the post moving made it crack..im curious to the marks on the seat post..looks like some one has taken a fine grain sand paper to it.perhaps this is where the other cable stop should be for the front mech.

check the inside of the seat tube where the weld is to see if the weld goes all the way thru.if a crack is still visable the weld didnt penatrate deeply enough and will crack very quickly again if you use it.

The rough bit on the seat tube is where the original laquer has
flaked off, pretty sure frame is meant to have a triple stop where
the double is.

Had a look inside the seat tube and it look's ok, would it be possible
that the weld on the seat tube was holding a cable stop that has
been cut off ?

Either way it's going to need surgery if i want to run a front mech

Frame is going to need a lot of attention to get it nice, generally a
bit pis*ed off at the moment

There should be a triple cable stop at the rear of the top tube the same as the front one. Then there should be a single stop about 3" down the seat tube under the seat stays at the back (but to the right side) for the front mech.

For '97 the E3 was V-brake only, earlier than that it had a canti bridge.

I can take a close up photo of my E4 if you like, the layout's the same on that.

Here you go......

Other than the Magura compatible top stop, the E3 should be the same.
