I think it's actually a Prestige you've got there. And an early one (circa 1991)

It looks like an Orange factory refinish circa 1999. Orange wouldn't have stuck Clockwork stickers on it if it were a prestige. 1991 Clockwork I reckon.

what makes you think its a prestige...?

Actually having looked again, I'm not so sure! :P

Prestiges always had the style of canti stop on the wishbone as seen on this frame but it appears that the earlier Clockworks ('89, '90 & '91) also had it. From around '92 the Clockwork canti stop changed (but then so did the wishbone/top tube junction).

'93 Clockwork:

'93 Prestige:

As you were! (But it's certainly very early 90's)

If its deffo early 90's does that mean the head will have been a 1"....?

Headtube on the bike will definetely be 1", you can tell it's an early frame due (mainly) to the bottom cable routing to the front mech.

My guess is also 91-92, also size is 17" not 16"

BTW (to the Orange experts) did the Prestige have rack mounts on the rear dropouts ?

My '93 clockwork definitely tallies with that info and has the smaller simple cable stop. Strange that my '95 p7 seems to have the other style though (used on older clockworks).
I can't remember if the prestige had rack mounts, but assuming it had the same wishbone seat stays, it would seem a little strange to do something different from other oranges like the clockwork.

Just to cause more trouble, if it's early nineties, as it appears, wouldn't it want 395mm forks? :? Those definitely look 420 though :? :?

Also, on a less technical bent, I do think it's gorgeous  8)
