Orange Aluminium Elite 1992

Re:

Looking forward to your thread Ross.

I’ve got exactly same year model I’m doing at mo. Am just about to start and strip the laquer and polish it. Gil has provided me with exact decals.

I’m leaving the pace RC35’s on which I’ll need to service but I’ve acquired a full XT groupset inc wheels to go in it.

I’ll be keeping an eye on yours mate.

Looking good....

Andy

You'll be done before me I reckon Andy. I've 6 builds on the go at the moment! I'm already subscribed to your Elite thread so looking forward to seeing the end result.

There's a little voice in my head telling me to leave the frame as is. Plenty time to decide.

You may as well learn from any mistakes I make!

Haha....

I can’t see the frame prep being any more difficult than the P7 tho so shouldn’t be an issue..... I hope

Aye - we have a Screwfix not too far away so going to get some of that stuff you used if I go for the strip. Their degreasers good too.

What saddle are you donning, an orangel, flite, or another stealth like seat.

Don't get on with Flites so what I had's been moved on. I got a torn Orangel along with this which I'm going to try & repair. Recovering could be a last resort. Also got a Orange saddle with a suede like cover that needs repairing. Will be one of those probably. The saddle that came with it isn't Orange & is damaged .

A rolls saddle is a popular choice. But go for what’s comfortable that’s the priority 8)
I share your views on a flite... Not built for comfort

Have you heard of SUGRU its a plyable material which you can mould into any shape, or cover any saddle hole. Then over, say 24 hours it forms into a hardened rubber.
i've tried it on one of my Orange Enduro saddles and it has definately made an improvement, i will try and dig a few of before and after shots to show you.

Aye but not used it. I've been looking at classic car upholstery restorations. Using a mix of paint & silicon or for suede, leather dust from scraping & shoogoo. Be interested to see your results.

Mmm sounds interesting Mark. Love to see some pics...

SUGRU

Before and after.

You could probably do a better job than me at moulding it in but you can see it does the job.
That was done about 4 years ago, I'll post current pics up shortly.
