My local bike shop has a bike scale they have nicknamed "THE DREAMCRUSHER".

I don't think anyone has ever weighed a bike and it been less than what they expected.

As for those who suggest you should lose some weight? You clearly don't get it

i think my dmr weights about 25 maybe 26 lbs im never gona weight it as i know the frame is 7 on its own     no dream crusher for me

Weighed my bikes recently ...

Parkpre Pro Image - pleasently suprised - 22 pound
Marin Mount Vision - lighter than I thought - 26 pound
Kona Cinder Cone (bombproof build) - v. heavy 31 pound
Trek SL1000 - light but could be lighter 20 pound
Specialized Rockhopper - just what I expected 27 pound

Weighed mine as well and was surprised.

Kirk DX 28lbs. I couldn't believe this, it feels like 40lbs.
Cannondale M500 23.5lbs.
My Roberts time trial bike was disappointing, 23lbs.

I'd like to think my Pinarello Rombo is light. Never weighted it though. Don't think I will either. Just love every time I get a replacement part and the bike feels even lighter.

Not sure I know what you mean john?

"As for those who suggest you should lose some weight? You clearly don't get it" :?:

Back when I was semi-decent (15 years ago  ) I remember lots of fat blokes on kleins plodding uphill and I have to admit to taking great pleasure in whizzing past on my heavy 28.5 pound bike (BITD I did know my bikes weight  ).

I think this impressed on me that light and expensive wasn't always "best", a well balanced bike with parts that work well and don't fail on you, even if it puts your bike up a few weight divisions is no bad thing in my book.

And speaking as a man who could always lose a few pounds round the middle, getting thinner and fitter will help my cycling 100x compared to kitting the bike out in teeny weeny shiny bits IMHO. (and is bloody cheaper too  )

Your bikes weight, like your age is all in the mind, You can choose to dwell on it and feel depressed or you can ignore it and live ihappily in a town called denial.
