I've had the odd case or problem on ebay before now (only ever bought things, never sold anything on ebay), but never one quite like this.
I bought something a day or two back (not a cycling item), not expensive, the entire thing (including postage) a little under £15. Seller had no selling feedback, only 1 feedback as a buyer, but didn't really bother me, as it's hardly a lot of money, and the item isn't sold that often.
A day or so after paying (by paypal) seller sends me a message asking me to cancel payment as they have a problem, in that they have got an email telling them they've been paid, but because of some changes of details (email address for paypal I think) they can't actually get the payment.
I reply saying I can't cancel the payment as it's not showing as unclaimed, all I can do is file a dispute.
A little while later, I get another email asking me to cancel payment, then a ebay request from them to cancel the transaction. Although I'd still like the item, I've better things to do than flog a dead horse, so was willing to go ahead with the request to cancel - and accepted it.
Problem is, my payment wasn't refunded as part of that.
So now, I've opened a dispute about the transaction being cancelled, but not having received my refund. No doubt the seller will respond saying they can't do anything about it, as they can't get at the payment.
I'm guessing at some point, I'll win the dispute and the refund (given the seller requested cancelling the transaction and I agreed), but has anyone had this happen before?
It's odd, there's been the rare time that a little voice has niggled me about an auction (normally low feedback) and the (albeit rare) times I've had problems, I've always had this moment of doubt before bidding on the auction - I should go with my instincts more.
