We'll bring this old thread back to cover the paint-job and build, rather than start a new one...

Here I've stripped the clear coat and decals from the paint, and roughed the paint to prep it for the primer.

Next step is to lop off the rack mounts and patch and sand the primer and get the frame ready for the first base coat. There will be 4 colors sprayed on the frame, and then a bit of hand detailing to add the 'map freatures' before the final gloss clear coats.

Fork to match. This is a Tange Prestige non-suspension corrected rigid fork that I'll be using for the project. The fork was powdercoated, so a little citrus strip and the powder coat rubs off in flexible ribbons like rubber cement. The fork will have a three color fade to match the frame, and then the stem will also be painted to match, and will be a three color fade also, with the steerer tube end of the stem matching the frame colors at the headtube and the fork at the crown. The bar end of the stem and the dropouts of the fork will correspond to the other two colors in the four color fade of the frame, matching colors at the rear dropouts and the seat post clamp. I'm excited to get to the color, but the weather is very humid here right now, so going will be slow for a few days. :cry:

...and goodbye to those pesky seatstay rack mounts too! Now for finish work and sanding, and then paint! I promise it won't take me another 6 months to update the project!
