That's because they're good bikes! This one has been upgraded nicely from standard, so I actually think $550 or offer isn't far out of line. The Duke SL, the XT/Sun Rhyno Lite wheels and the Octalink XT chainset are all good upgrades.

It's a 1998 frame, Reynolds 631 (heat-treated and double-butted), size 16. Suitable for riders up to 5-6 not 5-3 as stated in the ad - I'm 5-7 and I ride a size 16 Kona very happily with a 105 stem.

I forgot to mention the other reason why it merits a high price - it's been owned by a female! That's always worth another 20% in my book, females' bikes are cared for, males' bikes are hammered, crashed, covered in mud and thrown in the shed without cleaning.
