Nokia Sports Tracker

I find it simple to use, just select your sport IE mtb or road, press start, minimise it, and off you go. It measures distance, time, laptime, steps taken, average speed, altitude, and calories burnt. Plus if you get the sensor it'll measure your heart rate too.

I've been trying to get this for my phone but the Nokia Ovi store isn't playing ball :(

Is there any other place\way to get it ?

hmm i wonder, how does it do that??
Well the compatible Nokia handsets will have GPS for position, accelerometers for movement of the phone (pedometer / steps functions), altitude will be able to be derived from GPS functionality, calories burnt will be estimated given data input about the user, plus feeds from the other parameters.

The higher end handsets also have a digital compass function, which will feed into the positioning and movement tracking (GPS and accelerometers will be mainly responsible, though).

The heart rate thing requires an optional extra - a bluetooth heart rate sensor made by Polar.

As a slight tangent, I haven't read about such functionality within OVI maps, but high end GPS / Sat Navs include dead-weight reckoning (by having and using accelerometers in them) for being able to still estimate / approximate movement, speed and position when GPS signal is lost (tunnels or canyon-ing in city environments). Given that most compatible Nokia handsets are capable of network based positioning to assist, plus may have accelerometers and possibly a digital compass, I'd have thought that a quick win, and one they could boast about.

Not that I know of, but is your handset definitely compatible? What handset do you have?

For most apps there's normally the manual approach of downloading the file (normally a .sis file) copying it to your handset, then running it from there.

It's not a free memory problem with your handset, is it?

It's a Nokia n86.

Ovi store just not sending the app. Have tried loads of times.
Are you trying that from a computer based web browser?

Can you access the OVI store from your handset, and search for it there?

I've got it running on a 5230 with a handlebar mount.
You can run Sports Tracker and the sat nav at the same time.
The results look pretty accurate to me and the whole thing is very easy to use, plus its free. Data usage is very low, it only sends a small packet at the end of a session.
It does kill the battery on my phone though.
