Nocim....my Edwardian hotrod speed machine!

Location is tricky....

BITD when Avocet cycling computers came on the scene we used the Buxton - Leek road to see if we could hit it's max speed.

When I look back it was utter lunacy considering the traffic and motorists attempting to overtake having little to no comprehension of what speed a bike can go; arguably more dangerous than the mountain passes I've been over in the Alps and Pyrenees.

If you can find a closed section it will take a massive chunk of danger away from the equation.

I only found out roughly the speed I'd managed after the car that was going to overtake bailed out and let me take the road....he then stopped me later on to inform me! It's a strange moment when there's no gear left to turn because the legs won't spin any faster, really effects dynamics of the bike and how you control it.you kinda become a passenger instead of being the man machine harmony thing..if you know what I mean!
Well my first choice location wise is an airport...so car free ! It can take a fair size plane , regularly gets historic bombers from airshows refuelling so runway must be in the realm of just over 1/3 mile. I think it will take a bit of sweet talking and cajoling for a go ahead tho...
If not there's a a couple of other choices that are quite on Sunday mornings locally which are roads I know well.

Was that because you were looking at a gizmo to see how fast you were going? 🤨 Or just the bumpy road? It all happens quick at that speed don't it!

Get exactly what you mean. Ideally you still want to be a "Pilot" rather than a "Passenger" though..... ;)

Love the art of descending in the road scene.

I rate this man one of the best, more often than not good climbers don't make good descenders. A great little read: https://www.rouleur.cc/blogs/the-rouleur-journal/romain-bardet-down-to-earth

Sit back and enjoy with the evening beverage:

Nice to see that again 👍
Yup...that is how to do it fluid decisive and keep pushing....zoning is how I'd describe it! love the first switch back....not that I'm in his realm haha but that is one of my tricks....hang off the side of the bike and keep it upright! I've no idea why it works it just does😆 especially if you see one of those puddles of gritty dust on the outside!
