So all things being equal and based on animals getting the same treatment as humans, if I wanted to chase people around the park, bark all day long annoying the neighbours, bite children and shit on the footpaths, it wouldn't be my fault?

I guess your argument is that the dog doesn't know any better? Like I said then. Dog= dumb ass. Irresponsible owners even dumber.

As Gazz says, it's unbelievable that some people see the ill treatment of animals as a worse crime than the ill treatment of people. Seriously screwed up logic.

So. . . when you travel with your dog, it sits in its own seat and wearing its seat belt?
Does it also eat at the dinner table?
Never eat kibbled food (or other dog appropriate alternative)?
Never wear a collar and lead?

And when it's old, crippled and incontinent you will mop its brow, load it uip with painkillers and let it die in its sleep?
Or will you take it to the vet and have it destroyed?

She died of cancer. We treated her without thought of the expense, but when the time came, and she looked us in the eye, with a look that said i can't go on, she went straight to the vet, for a dignified end. She had no quality of life left, and that is the thing most important, both to us, and our vet.

Guess this is falling into two camps now, those who like dogs, and those who don't. It takes all sorts to make a world.

Don't want this to end up like a recent post, so i'll go now... :roll:

My point is that you cannot humanise a dog. It is a recipe for disaster.

They have no free will and rely on us to act in their best interests..

i agree with you. i think because a dog is fluffy and stupid they seem to get more attention when they are mistreated.

thankfully most wifes, husbands, brothers, sisters and animal owners are on the whole good people

not had to put any family down, but my partner would've, had the law been available. I am a care worker, and some of the people i tend, a) should've gone a long time ago, and b) actually ask me, or tell me they want to die :cry: . That is quite hard to deal with.

There is supposed to be a big national debate about euthanasia, at the moment, but i don't hear much about it. Cognative response, family wishes, and quality of life are the real descussion points. I deal with people who are doubly incontinent, unable to get out of bed, or support their own weight, and sometimes have a very low mental age, or ability. Sometimes no ability. No easy choices. A vet would say call it a day, but.....Well same arguments for PVS. No easy choices.

Guess you have American Bulldogs Lovely dogs, nice size and temprement.

Wife has 2 AB's . . and we're lucky, their temperaments are fine and they are structurally sound.
Sadly not the case for the majority in the country though.. largely due to unethical breeding and greedy, lying, cheating scumbag breeders :roll:

My 2 dogs are lurchers.. .. much nicer

I don't abuse animals or humans alike. I don't fund companies that torture animals for financial gain. I choose not to eat animals or humans.

Whether or not people care more for animals or humans is entirely up to them. I will say one thing though, I have had to fight with more humans than animals! I have never been beaten up or stabbed by an animal either.

Do I prefer animals to humans? In many respects, yes I do.

I dont understand how someone can do that rape victim or not, if so upset after the event they could have it terminated or if thats something that they don not believe in adoption is another option, i am not taking away what the person went through but in todays age in this country its not an excuse just to dump in a gerden , plane or anything.

I know of two dogs that need re-homing. I also am freindly with the members of the cats protection league and can sort out cats no problem.
