This is the bicycle I refer to in my thread about better braking with steel rims. It belongs to a friend but I helped her find it.
After seeing the white-and-blue trim conversion on my Triumph she wants similar mods done to this - thoughts & suggestions please?
Under consideration:
Chrome lights with LED bulb conversion for efficiency ,and either a dynamo or a small battery pack strapped to the rear rack
White cables, pedals, saddle
North Road handlebars and white grips
Whitewall Delta Cruiser on the front wheel to match the rear, that Raleigh Record tyre must be 40 years old and certainly isn't original to the bike
Possible alloy front wheel replacement and/or Double Pivot Caliper brake upgrade (thank you Banashapen for the suggestion)
Burgundy 'KMC' BMX 1/8 chain (that chain looks worn but the chainwheel and sprocket are sound)
20-tooth or larger rear sprocket to give more user-friendly gear ratios
what else would you do? Unlike my Triumph the b/bracket and cotters seem to be in excellent condition so I'm going to leave those as-is
