any idea what happened to the original forks on the colnago? if you go for that one have a good look or crash damage to the top and down tube,bulges or creases should give you clues.i would take the colnago if it was my choice

excellent advice

Yup, those are g40's - tubulars.
I just got pics from the owner - the bike is missing paint in hughe area on tt. I think I' ll pass on both of these offers and continue my search.
Thank you all for you kind help!

Darko.

A good ball park for bike fit is the stand over height.

No it's not. Bottom bracket height can be different between two bikes, so it's useless.

hi ,is that specialised one thats got a special metal matrix tubing ? both prices are really good but the colnago
is much more of a classic . but i would change the stem and forks.

to be honest I don't know what year is this s-works, just cannot determine by any source I try.
Colnago is more appealing, but it has hughe paint defect on top tube, it would require full frame repaint and that would just ruine it. I found third bike that was also very appealing to me and I already got it. ;) It is realy rare and costs 5x less than these two :)

Stand over height is used to determine a basic bike fit before other considerations. Dave Yates has been building custom frame for over 30 years and its one of the first measurements taken. The 'ball park' when you buy any bike is that you don't want a crossbar higher than your inside leg measurement :shock: for obvious reasons. If standover height was too high the bottom bracket position is irrelevant anyway.

have to agree with robbie, bb height has nothing to do with it

I think you guys are talking about two different measurements;
standover is not measured from BB - it is the height measured from ground to the middle of toptube not when you stand over toptube while on pedals or something like that.
BB height is something completely different and while important it is not something you take in consideration when you are trying to decide if bike will fit you.

Standover is actually good measurement when getting a bike, I know it is important but bike is in a town far from me that is why I asked about the size and if somebody knows if it would fit my height, now I know it would fit me, but I won't get it for the reasons mentioned few posts above.
